- Nun(s)
- 1) Nuns are female members of a religious order who choose to live together in community so that they can take vows of chastity, poverty and obedience. Often they are unmarried women but sometimes widows or divorcees are also accepted into the order. Some are enclosed and spend most of their time in prayer, rarely venturing out into the world, while most are able to engage with the world and are often involved in teaching, charitable or missionary work.
